Discover and Support BIPOC-Owned Businesses in Grand Rapids

A screen shot of the BIPOC-Owned Businesses Map of Greater Grand Rapids. It shows a map of Grand Rapids with dots representing locations of BIPOC-owned businesses and organizations.

When I first created the BIPOC-Owned Businesses Map, my goal was simple: to make it easier for people to find and support local businesses owned by Black, Indigenous, and People of Color in the Grand Rapids area. This map is more than just a list of businesses. It’s a people-driven resource encouraging us to shop locally and keep our money in our community.

You can find these businesses and more on the BIPOC-Owned Businesses Map of Greater Grand Rapids.

Initially, I collected the original batch of data independently, researched businesses, talked to friends and community leaders, and scoured local resources. It wasn’t easy, but it was worth it to create a tool that helps connect people with local BIPOC-owned businesses. The best part? This map isn’t static. It will continue to grow and change with your help! If you know of a BIPOC-owned business or organization that isn’t on the map, you can add it! I’ve created a form for community members to fill out to add a new business or organization to the map.

As an interactive web map, you can find local businesses in various categories—restaurants, retail, wellness, venues, and more. It’s a living document that reflects our community’s diverse and vibrant business landscape. If you notice any incorrect information, please let me know. Your feedback is crucial to keeping this resource accurate and helpful for everyone.

Ultimately, the BIPOC-Owned Businesses Map is about supporting local economies and promoting equity. By using this map, you’re not only finding great places to shop or eat; you’re contributing to the growth and success of BIPOC-owned businesses in our area. Let’s work together to keep our dollars in the community and make Grand Rapids an even better place to live, work, and thrive.
